The rapid development of communication technology and social media has transformed social interaction patterns, particularly among youth. Instagram has emerged as one of the most popular platforms due to its visual and interactive features. However, increasing usage has raised concerns regarding its impact on psychological well-being. This study aims to examine the relationship between Instagram usage, self-esteem, depression, and loneliness among youth in Sabah. A quantitative approach was employed involving 455 respondents aged between 18 and 30 years. Instruments used include the Instagram Intensity Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale and UCLA Loneliness Scale. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings indicate significant relationships between Instagram usage and self-esteem as well as depression. However, no significant relationship was found with loneliness. This study contributes to understanding the psychological impact of social media and highlights the need for effective interventions.
