Abstract

This research study examines the determinants of humanitarian supply chain responsiveness in Malaysia, with a focus on information sharing, inter-agency coordination, and logistics infrastructure. Using a quantitative approach, the data were collected from 238 disaster response stakeholders and analysed using structural equation modelling. The research findings reveal that all three factors significantly influence responsiveness, with inter-agency coordination emerging as the strongest predictor, followed by the information sharing and logistics infrastructure. The results demonstrate that the responsiveness is a systemic capability shaped by the integration of relational, informational, and physical resources. In the Malaysian context, recurring flood disasters highlight the need for coordinated and efficient relief operations. This research study contributes to humanitarian logistics literature by providing empirical evidence from a developing country and extending the application of resource-based and coordination theories. The research findings offer practical and policy insights for strengthening disaster management systems and improving response effectiveness in Malaysia.
