Abstract

Bidang pendidikan turut terkesan akibat daripada globalisasi. Satu pemerhatian ketara adalah peningkatan mobiliti pelajar antarabangsa. Lantaran itu kajian terhadap identiti pelajar antarabangsa turut mendapat perhatian ramai pengkaji sejak beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk menilai pengalaman pelajar antarabangsa. Pengumpulan data menggunakan borang soal selidik yang diadaptasi daripada Ohio State University dan University of Glasgow. Responden terdiri daripada 29 pelajar di sebuah universiti swasta di negeri Selangor. Majoriti responden didapati berasal daripada negara-negara hemisfera selatan terutamanya Afrika dan Asia Tenggara. Responden telah berada di Malaysia antara satu hingga enam tahun. Program pengajian pilihan adalah bidang teknikal seperti pengkomputeran, kejuruteraan, sains hayat dan matematik serta seni dan rekacipta berbanding bidang sains sosial. Analisis data menunjukkan bahawa pengalaman pembelajaran pelajar antarabangsa di universiti swasta negeri adalah agak baik. Skor tinggi diberikan kepada peranan fakulti dan ahli akademik serta peluang membina jaringan profesional. Skor sederhana diberikan kepada perkhidmatan am, kemudahan kokurikulum, permuafakatan dengan pelajar tempatan, perwatakan identiti institusi dan skor sederhana terendah adalah informasi sebelum ketibaan di Malaysia. Tiada korelasi signifikan antara semua konstruk kajian terhadap perwatakan identiti institusi oleh pelajar antarabangsa.
